Hotel Key Cards Compatible With VingCard
Classic, Signature RFID, Essence, Allure & VingCard Visa locks.
The direct answer
Yes — American Hotel Cards supplies RFID key cards compatible with VingCard Signature RFID, Vision, Essence and Allure locks. They use MIFARE Classic or MIFARE DESFire chips on the 13.56 MHz ISO/IEC 14443-A standard, in CR80 format, custom-printed to your brand and shipped blank for your front desk to encode on Visionline — or pre-programmed to your profile. For legacy VingCard Classic magstripe doors we also supply magnetic-stripe and combo cards.
Overview
How VingCard reads a key card
VingCard is the hotel locking line from ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions and one of the two systems you are most likely to find on guest-room doors in the United States. The current RFID platforms — VingCard Signature RFID, Essence (the lock-inside-the-door design) and Allure (the bedside-panel design) — all read contactless 13.56 MHz credentials in the MIFARE family, managed through the Visionline system. Cards we supply for these locks are standard CR80 RFID cards with the chip matched to your reader fleet.
Two generations matter for ordering. Newer Signature RFID and Vision deployments commonly read MIFARE Classic 1K, while ASSA ABLOY’s more recent and higher-security configurations use encrypted MIFARE DESFire (EV1/EV2/EV3). The older VingCard Classic platform was magnetic-stripe, and a number of properties still run those doors. We will spec the right card for whichever generation you have — and for mixed estates mid-retrofit, we make combo cards with both a magstripe and an RFID inlay so one card opens old and new doors during the changeover.
Whatever the generation, the credential itself is encoded by your own system. We deliver the blank or printed card; Visionline and your front-desk encoder write the room, dates and access rights at check-in. That keeps your security model exactly where it belongs and means we never need — or want — a copy of a guest’s active card.

How encoding works
VingCard RFID credentials are written by your own Visionline system and front-desk encoder, not by us. We supply the blank or custom-printed card; your property encodes the room number, valid dates and access rights at check-in. On DESFire deployments those credentials are encrypted and cannot be cloned, which is exactly why the secure workflow is to encode on your own encoder. We never copy an active guest card — we provide compatible stock for your system to program.
What we make for VingCard
We supply cards compatible with VingCard Signature RFID, VingCard Vision, VingCard Essence and VingCard Allure (13.56 MHz MIFARE Classic or DESFire, encoded on Visionline), plus magnetic-stripe and RFID+magstripe combo cards for legacy VingCard Classic and VingCard Visa doors. Send us your lock model or a sample card and we will confirm the exact chip before you order.
Ordering tips
- If your doors still take a swipe rather than a tap, you are on legacy VingCard Classic magstripe — ask us about RFID+magstripe combo cards to bridge a phased retrofit.
- Visionline configuration (Classic vs DESFire) is the detail to confirm before a large run; a sample card or your lock model tells us immediately.

VingCard compatibility, answered
What key cards work with VingCard locks?
VingCard RFID locks — Signature RFID, Vision, Essence and Allure — read 13.56 MHz contactless cards in the MIFARE family (Classic 1K or encrypted DESFire), managed through Visionline. American Hotel Cards supplies exactly those in CR80 format, custom-printed and encoded blank or to your profile. For legacy VingCard Classic magstripe doors we supply magnetic-stripe and combo cards instead.
Can you copy or duplicate our existing VingCard cards?
No — and on encrypted DESFire deployments it is not technically possible, which is the point of the security. We supply compatible blank or custom-printed cards that your own Visionline system and front-desk encoder program with each guest’s room and dates. You keep full control of access; we never handle a live guest credential.
What chip and technology does VingCard use?
Current VingCard RFID locks operate at 13.56 MHz on the ISO/IEC 14443-A standard using MIFARE Classic 1K or MIFARE DESFire EV1/EV2/EV3 chips, depending on the generation and security configuration. The older VingCard Classic platform used a magnetic stripe. We match the card to whichever your doors actually read.
Can you print our branding on VingCard-compatible cards?
Yes. Every VingCard-compatible card we make is fully custom: full-bleed CMYK photography, Pantone brand-color matching, metallic foil, spot UV, signature panels and sequential numbering. The artwork is purely a surface finish and does not affect how the lock reads the card.
What is the minimum order for VingCard-compatible cards?
Minimums start at 500 cards, with most custom orders shipping in roughly 2–3 weeks after artwork approval. Plain-stock and reorder runs are typically faster — tell us your opening or reorder date and we will plan the run around it.
Will these work with VingCard Essence and Allure specifically?
Yes. Essence (the reader built inside the door) and Allure (the bedside-panel reader) both read 13.56 MHz MIFARE credentials through Visionline, the same as Signature RFID. Confirm whether your fleet is configured for MIFARE Classic or DESFire and we will supply the matching inlay.
